TITLE OF ENTRY
Make your SSS Number Permanent at your Fingertips

THEMES
Government Operations, Government Process, Delay, Waiting, Process Improvement, Document Storage, Digitalization (paperless system, environment-friendly initiatives, etc.)

OVERVIEW
This initiative, “Make your SSS Number Permanent at your Fingertips,” addresses delays in issuing permanent SSS numbers for members applying through online portals. The proposed solution involves system integration between the Social Security System (SSS) and the Philippine Statistics Authority (PSA) to automate the validation of birth certificates, a key requirement for converting a member's status from Temporary to Permanent. This integration will eliminate the need for members to personally present their birth certificates at SSS branches, reducing processing times and costs. By enabling real-time status updates, the system will enhance efficiency, improve member experience, and prevent delays caused by incomplete documentation.

PRODUCTIVITY PROBLEM
There were some delays in issuing SSS numbers for members opting to apply through online portals.

CHALLENGE STATEMENT
How might we reduce the delay in the issuance of SSS numbers?

PROPOSED SOLUTION
Develop a system integration between SSS and PSA that will fast-track the updating of SSS Members' membership status from Temporary to Permanent:
A PSA Birth Certificate is the main requirement of SSS to convert membership status for every SSS member from Temporary to Permanent
The system integration will immediately validate the existence of the member in PSA birth registry database.
This will eliminate the need for the member to personally present their Birth Certificate at SSS Branches. (How fast is the process when this is eliminated?)
Will reduce additional cost and time to members for the need to avail of Birth Certificate (by how much?)

BENEFITS/PRODUCTIVITY GAINS
By implementing the “Make your SSS Number Permanent at Your Fingertips,” the membership status of members will be immediately updated to Permanent. The members will not need to visit the SSS branch to submit their birth certificate. This will update the status in real-time. Also, some members are not aware of the status of their membership since some forgot to submit the required document. This will also be cost-efficient to members since they won't have to avail of the birth certificate.
